Biography
Laura South joins the Williams CS department from Northeastern University, where she earned her PhD under the supervision of Michelle Borkin. Laura’s graduate work focused primarily on developing techniques to make computers, particularly the web, safer and easier to navigate for users with photosensitive epilepsy. However, she also studied other accessibility concerns, such as 3D-printing of braille, and a variety of data visualization techniques, like those for visualizing astronomy datasets and cyberattacks. At Williams, Laura teaches courses on human-computer interaction and introductory programming.
